Understanding the Different
Types of Whirlpool Bathtubs

Before you buy a whirlpool bathtub, make sure you understand the different
types that are available - it will help you make a more informed decision...

Different Choices of Whirlpool Bathtubs

If you're wanting the luxury of a whirlpool bathtub in your home and your budget is a little on the stretched side, then I would like to make you aware of the different types of whirlpools that are available.  Once you have a better understanding of the different whirlpool bathubs available, then you will be in a better position to shop for a one that you really want and most importantly, a one that suits your budget!

Bascially, there are three different kinds of whirlpool bathtubs:

Hydrotherapy:

The hydrotherapy whirlpool bathtub is the more familiar and traditional type of whirlpool. The standard hydrotherapy tub pumps out jetted water from a number of jets (normally 6-8 jets).  This type is especially good for relaxing muscles, lowering blood pressure, and relieving stress.

However, it is not really suitable for young children and adults with any type of medication condition.  This is because of the power of water coming through the jets, which can be pretty powerful!  You can of course, run a bath without the function of the jets.

Thermal Air:

The thermal-air whirlpool bath is controlled by heated air bubbles.  These bubbles are then evenly distributed over your entire body.  The heated air bubbles are controlled by a thermastat so you can be in controll of how warm/hot and how powerful you want your bubbles to be!

This type of whirlpool bathtub is especially relaxing and is suitable for for all people including children.  However, young children must be supervised at all times when bathing.

Combo:

As you have already probably worked out for yourself, the combo whirlpool uses the combination of both the hydrotherapy jetted water and the heated thermal-air bubble function.

Therefore, this would be an ideal choice for a family, as you then have the choice of which function you want to use depending of which family member is having the bath, whether it be a young child, or a stressed executive parent!

However, you must realize that the combo will come at an additional cost as you are in essence having the functions of two whirlpool bathtubs all in one unit.

Factors to Consider When Shopping

When you have decided which type of whirlpool bathtub you would like, you then have to take into consideration of how and where it will fit into your bathroom.

Get brochures from all the stores with measurements and dimensions of the bathtub.  Don't forget that a pump will have to be fitted and this needs to be taken into consideration when deciding on the position within your bathroom.

There are of course many large bathroom specialist shops who now operate online.  By buying online you could save yourself the 'middleman' charge of buying direct from a wholesaler or specialist shop.  Some online retail stores even offer free delivery.  Just make sure you shop around to get the best deal for you.
